Nilai Kematian Orang Percaya Di Mata Allah: Eksegesis Mazmur 116:15
Abstract
Mazmur 116:15 merupakan bagian yang sering dikutip oleh hamba-hamba Tuhan ketika berkhotbah dalam ibadah pemakaman dan ibadah penghiburan. Dalam terjemahan bahasa Indonesia Terjemahan Baru (ITB), ayat ini berbunyi “Berharga di mata TUHAN kematian semua orang yang dikasihi-Nya.” Namun yang menjadi pertanyaan adalah: Apa maksud dari teks ini? Apa yang dimaksud dengan kata “berharga” dalam bagian ini? Mengapa kematian bagi orang-orang yang dikasihi Tuhan begitu berharga? Kematian seperti apa yang dimaksudkan oleh pemazmur dalam ayat ini? Dalam usaha untuk menjawab semua pertanyaan di atas dan sekaligus memperjelas makna dari teks ini, maka peneliti melakukan studi eksegesis yang membawa kepada kesimpulan bahwa sesungguhnya kematian orang percaya (orang-orang saleh) begitu berharga di mata Allah adalah karena nilai intrinsik dan kualitas dari orang percaya tersebut, yakni sebagai umat kesangan-Nya yang memungkinkan orang percaya memiliki hubungan yang khusus dengan Allah. Pemahaman ini mendorong orang-orang percaya untuk: pertama, tetap setia mengikut Tuhan sekalipun situasi dan kondisi hidup penuh dengan tantangan. Kedua, menguatkan orang-orang percaya bahwa kematian adalah sesuatu yang berharga di mata Allah. Dalam arti, Allah sangat menghormati dan memberi perhatian yang sangat tinggi bagi kematian orang percaya.
Abstract
Psalm 116:15 is a passage that is often quoted by God's servants when preaching in funeral services and consolation services. In the Indonesian translation of the New Translation (ITB), this verse reads "Precious in the eyes of the Lord the death of all those He loves." But the question is: What is the meaning of this text? What is meant by the word “valuable” in this passage? Why is death for God's loved ones so precious? What kind of death is meant by the psalmist in this verse? In an effort to answer all the questions above and at the same time clarify the meaning of this text, the researcher conducted an exegesis study which led to the conclusion that actually the death of believers (godly people) is so valuable in the eyes of God is due to the intrinsic value and quality of the believer namely, as His beloved people which allows believers to have a special relationship with God. This understanding encourages believers to: first, remain faithful to follow God even though life's situations and conditions are full of challenges. Second, it strengthens believers that death is something precious in God's eyes. In a sense, God really respects and pays very high attention to the death of believers.
